What will my data analytics audit look like?

No two companies’ analytics requirements are the same. So, we provide tailored consulting services to audit your implementation and ensure your data is trustworthy, as well as identifying additional data you need.

Depending on the size and complexity of the analytics implementation, an audit should be conducted every 6-12 months. This ensures that there aren’t any misconfigurations or hidden errors.

“Speero helped us set up and configure a data warehouse using BigQuery and Google Cloud Platform to unify data from tools like Google Analytics, Shopify, ReCharge, Klaviyo and more. This allows us to run ad-hoc queries using data from multiple sources, build more advanced reporting and make better data-driven decisions overall.”Matthew Kinneman, Owner and President at Bullymax

Analytics Audit FAQs

What is an analytics audit?

During an analytics audit, we identify a list of shortcomings that lower the quality of your data. This can include a broken setup, misconfigured integration, missing data sources, or anything else that may skew your data. This audit helps you answer the following three questions:

1. Am I collecting all of the data I need?
2. Can I trust the data I’m collecting?
3. Is anything broken or tracking/reporting incorrectly? If so, why?

How long does it take to conduct a data audit?

The duration of an audit comes down to the list of tools that are included in the audit and the complexity of the overall setup. In most cases, a simple audit can be delivered within a week with larger projects taking a month.

How accurate is analytics auditing?

Besides covering all the common problem areas and basic settings, our audits go deeper and include things like custom integrations, comparing data against the backend numbers, and investigating various edge cases like using an outdated browser. This ensures our audits are as accurate as possible.

What happens after my analytics audit has been completed?

When your audit has been completed, we’ll deliver a list of critical fixes and suggested improvements. If you have the resources in-house, your team can get to work on the necessary fixes. If not, we can put together a detailed proposal for doing the work for you.

What are the best analytics tools?

The best data analytics tools depend on what you are trying to achieve. If you’re considering data collection tools for digital experiences, Google and Adobe Analytics are great options for providing real-time customer data.

Whereas, if you’re trying to analyze and visualize data, we highly recommend some of the following tools:

- Looker
- Tableau
- GDS

A good experimentation toolset also has a data warehouse where all relevant data is pulled together allowing for more advanced analysis and reporting.

What is data visualization?

Data visualization is the visual representation of data, commonly in the form of a graph, chart, or map, to make the information easy to understand and uncover insights from.

Good data visualizations should be easy to understand, interesting, and should tell you a story you wouldn’t spot by looking at the raw numbers.

What is the Speero data monitoring process?

To get the most out of data monitoring, it’s important to set up custom alerts to notify you of any major changes or spikes. We monitor your data in three ways:

- Dashboards
- Automated reports
- Custom alerts

How do you know if your data is accurate?

Data quality issues can be caused by several different factors, such as tracking that has been set up incorrectly. Fixing data quality issues depends on the specific issue, but in most cases, it requires technical work.

Why is it important to ensure that data is accurate?

To ensure that the data you’re collecting is accurate, we recommend comparing it to other reliable data sources. For example, Google Analytics vs. Shopify, Google Analytics vs backend, or testing tool vs analytics tool. If there is a large disparity in the data, you can begin to look for the cause of the data inaccuracies.

How do you fix data quality issues?

Data quality issues can be caused by several different factors, e.g. tracking that has been set up incorrectly. Fixing data quality issues depends on the specific issue, but in most cases, it requires technical work.

What are the benefits of transitioning to GA4 today?

Google Analytics is the industry standard for user journey tracking on the web. Soon old Universal Analytics (UA) will be shut-down and solely replaced by GA4. If you don't start collecting data now you will lose ta ability to compare year-to-year performance of your site.
